A 0 Z-score indicates that the point considered is homogeneous to the mean of the data. When you calculate a z-score you are converting a raw data value to a standardized score on a standardized normal distribution. In other words it is the distance of a data point from the population mean that is expressed as a multiple of the standard deviation.
