SUMLEFT adds the numbers in the row to the left of the cell youre in. Click the Formula button in the Data group. This example creates a 3x3 table in a new document and sums the numbers in the first column.
Word will then calculate the sum of all the cells above the cell where the formula is located provided they all contain numbers.
A dialog named Formula is displayed typing SUM LEFT in the formula text box. Select the entire equation text box and youll see a tab with an arrow on the right-hand side. Click this arrow to reveal a list of visual options including whether to center left-justify or right-justify the equation. It definitely changes the lookup value to determine the sum of different columns using different criteria.
